Be honest with yourself.
You will be going through a range of different emotions.
If you are finding it difficult to cope on your own, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
It is important to give yourself time and acknowledge when you are not feeling great.
It may feel difficult, but it will help you in the longer term.
Personal perspective from Sarah Harris: "I struggled with this at the start. My emotions came out in different ways. Sometimes I was distant, withdrawn or snappy towards others. Allowing myself to be honest with how I was feeling helped me to process my feelings better, rather than pushing them aside. I found it helpful to journal my thoughts everyday. It’s good to write down how you feel, as well as noting the good things in your day. Journaling allows you to be honest with yourself and also is a great way to see your progress on how well you are feeling over time. If you note that you are not improving, be honest with yourself and get in touch with your doctor. They are there to help you."
